Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers’ annual Internet Trends Report was recently released and confirmed the top trends to watch this year:
- Mobile remains “compelling” for advertisers and monetization strategies, with video content expecting to be big(ger) this year.
- Snapchat, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger lead the messaging app pack and are expected to expand into content hubs within the next few years (See: Snapchat’s Discover feature and Facebook’s Instant Articles).
- Consumers are pushing for more on-demand content and are using their dollars to show for it, documented by the popularity of services like Uber, Airbnb and Lyft.
- “The best decisions are often made by diverse groups of people.” Wise words from Mary Meeker, Internet analyst and author of the 196 (!) page report.
