A few months ago, we posted an article about tips to keep your small business focused for 2015. (If you missed it, definitely check it out!)
But now that we’re a quarter of the way into the year (time is flying!), it’s a great opportunity to evaluate how you’re doing and whether you’re still on course to achieve your business goals.
To help you do so, let’s take a look at four more ways you can assess how you’re doing, and how you can keep the momentum going throughout the rest of the year.
1. Check Yourself
Before you wreck yourself, take the time to see where your business currently stands against your goals for the year. If you had a goal of increasing traffic to your website by 25 percent, for example, dive into Google Analytics (or any other analytics software you use) to identify the current state of your traffic. If you’ve been doing this all along, then consider yourself a step ahead of the game.☺
Or, if you’ve implemented a new strategy designed to improve the customer experience, send out a survey to get their feedback. The goal now is to find out whether the tactics you outlined are moving your business forward, so let yourself relish in all things data.
Once you have that information, you can determine whether you should consider changing your tactics to reach your goal. If that means starting a project sooner than later in the year to boost the number of visitors to your site, then so be it.
2. Resolve Any Issues
Once you’ve identified how your business is doing, communicate that information with the rest of your team (unless you’re a solopreneur, of course). This ensures everyone is on the same page, and gives others the chance to identify what’s truly going to move your company forward.
If your data revealed that there’s something preventing your business from achieving its goals, you’ll want to address it right away. When those issues have been taken care of, you can get back to working on projects that will bring your business closer to your goal.
3. Focus on One Task at a Time
Unless you have a big team to support and execute your vision, you’ll want to focus your efforts on one major project at a time.
Working on many tasks at once sounds like an efficient way to get the job done, but it can actually make it more difficult for you to complete projects. While having more people makes it easier to spread the workload, solopreneurs and small business owners with a small staff might have more on their plate.
To make your time more productive, commit to completing a few small tasks each day, and give yourself only one or two major projects at a time.
4. Build Your Network
Meeting other business owners and potential customers is a great way to not only raise awareness of your business, but grow it as well. When you talk about your company and get others excited about it, it’ll keep you motivated and encourage you to work harder to achieve your business goals.
5. Be Patient
It can take time for some tactics to generate the results you want, so be patient if everything seems to be moving slowly. Increasing steady traffic to your website isn’t going to happen overnight. If you want quality leads, you’re going to have to put in the work – and time – in order to reap the benefits.
Get To It!
